But now that the event is up and running — it started Tuesday and runs through Friday — there may be signs it’s losing some of its bargain-hunting appeal among consumers.

Momentum Commerce, a marketing and nology outfit that works with companies selling their ducts on Amazon AMZN, said its clients saw a 41% sales decline for the first day of this year’s Prime Day versus the first day of the event in 2024.

And Numerator, a consumer data company, noted that the per-order spending for this year ($57. 12) was slightly lower than last year ($60. 03), based on initial sales.
